If you don’t want social media icons on your blog, for whatever reason, you can use URLS instead.
Blogger Scott Hanselman wanted to add sharing capabilities to his articles without adding the widget JavaScript supplied by each provider, and clogging up his blog with various colourful buttons.
As the main sharing services allow sharing via visiting a URL (rather than using their JavaScript) it is possible to have a link rather than an icon.
You might think it’s less obnoxious, improves speed, or avoids tracking, or a mixture of all three.
